I just want to be heard…

In our worlds of constant noise and chatter how rare it is to find places of silence.  Perhaps even more rare to find places to be heard.  Consider our day to day lives.  How many ear buds do we see?  Is the radio on in the car?  Maybe the television in the evenings?  Might we live amidst a constant barrage of voices?  Yet, it seems each of us longs to be “heard”.

However, an exquisite balance is found when we are not only heard, but we choose to listen too.

May I suggest these longings to be heard and desire to listen are innate in our created design?  Let’s go a step further.  We are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).  Perhaps God himself longs to be heard?  Perhaps God himself eagerly desires to listen to us?

Yes, we live amidst constant noise and chatter.  It’s true.  It can be difficult to find time and space to pray.  Something else is also true.  If we seek God, we will find him (Matthew 7:7-8).  He will take the time to come into our place of quiet.  If we listen, he speaks.  If we speak, he listens.

Be still and know that he is God (Psalm 46:10).
