Balls everywhere…
Such an interesting time of year. New Year’s resolutions and balls everywhere.
I’m less of a resolution type person. A new year reset perhaps? Resolutions seem such a demanding way to assure a happy and prosperous future. In fact, this time of year I’m more inclined to relaxing in an air-conditioned room with the TV on. But what do I find? Balls everywhere. Cricket balls. Tennis balls. Golf balls. Want to assure a happy and prosperous future with one of these balls? You will need to be able to hit that thing exactly where you want it to go, nearly every single time.
Rules me out. What about you?
Resolutions and these balls have something in common. You need to know exactly what your plans for the future are. Don’t know? Maybe ask God? “For I know the plans I have for you,” he says, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 11)
Sounds good to me. But it gets better. “Maybe ask God” sounds simple. What about this: “When you seek him with all your heart. He will be found by you.” (Jeremiah 29:14) He not only wants to be found, he wants to hear from us. And he wants us to be happy and prosperous.
Maybe ask God? I think I can do that. What about you?
