Spiritual fitness…
I so much enjoy walking. In my ideal world I would like to get my pulse rate pumping for forty minutes a day. Why? Keeps me fit. Reduces blood pressure and cholesterol. And yes, it improves mental health. Even better, walk with someone. It’s sensational for relationships. Why not?
What else? I like to disappear for fifteen to twenty minutes and pick up heavy things and put them down again. Why? Stronger muscles. Healthy heart. Healthier bones. What else? It’s excellent for my metabolism meaning I can eat more. Why not?
About an hour day. I guess it’s important, so I make time. Why not?
Anything else? Apparently, “physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1Timothy 4:8) Now that’s interesting. One requires lots of activity. And the other sitting down. Sitting down chatting with God. Sitting down with my bible. Sitting down with a good Christian book. And it has value for all things. Plus it has a touch of forever about it. Why not?
Thinking about it, if it’s truly important there’s always time. So, why not?
