Time and time again…

We live in a world where distance has, at the same time, become less of an issue and more of an issue.  Between modern transport and communication the vastness of our planet is amazingly traversable.  Yet, at the same time our families and friends can navigate to the ends of the earth, and often choose to settle there.  Such a long way away.  How we long to find a comfy place and just sit and chat.  To spend time.  To connect.  The way we used to do.

But perhaps there’s a greater barrier than traveling the expanses of geographical dislocation.  Busyness.  Particularly in the Christmas season.  There is simply so much to do.  Celebrations.  End of year events.  Annual holidays.  Shopping.  Yep.  And more shopping.  Gifts.  Food.  Beverages.  I wonder how hard it becomes to find a comfy place to sit and chat with those we love?  Even if they live in our neighbourhood.  Time, amongst all the other things might be the most valuable gift.  And try to find that one in K-mart!  Perhaps it’s the most thoughtful gift too?

What do I want for Christmas this year?  That comfy place.  To spend time with those I love so much.  To peacefully connect.

So, Jesus, what do you want for Christmas this year?  After all, it is your birthday.

Same thing.  Time with you.  To connect.
