I see you…

I don’t think I would like the media to report on who I am based on their observations, or the observations of people who barely know me… based on who I appear to be in the public eye.  There’s more to me than that.  So many people are ‘reported’ and I wonder if our natural tendency is to subconsciously, or consciously, believe that which is reported.

The “I am” that I believe I am is actually only available to a precious and deeply loved few.

An exquisite scene in the film Avatar, where the two lovers who are alien species to each other, Jake and Neytiri see each other as they actually are.  Jake goes first.  “I see you.”  Then Neytiri.  “I see you.”*  Such an invaluable treasure to be ‘seen’ by those who love you.

The God of the Bible has many names.  Names used to describe his essential nature and character.  In Genesis 16:13 Hagar names him El Roi – the God who sees me.

It would be disappointing if our estimation of our personal “I am” is based on the observations of those who know little of us, when the great “I am” (Exodus 3:14) sees us through the eyes of unimaginably holy love, and wants us to know how beautiful and wonderful we are.  He wants us to know how loved we are.  He is one of my precious and deeply loved few.  He sees me.
