A broken hearted God…

There is no shorter sentence in the Bible than this: “Jesus wept.”

We regularly sing our prayers in Church on Sunday mornings.  It’s not unreasonable to sing prayers when it’s quite reasonable to suggest that God sang creation into existence.  One of the prayers we sing contains the request to God that he will “break our heart for what yours.”

Jesus wept as his heart broke in compassion for a dear friend whose brother had died (John 11:35).  What did Jesus do next?  He fixed the problem.  He gave Lazarus his life back.

What’s the point?  When Jesus’ heart breaks for us, he intercedes for us (Romans 8:34).  He prays.  He prays and things change.

Feeling broken hearted?  Pray.  Give it to Jesus.

Know someone broken hearted?  Pray.  Give them to Jesus.
