In sync with something beautiful…
Some years ago, I introduced my wife to my newly acquired 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6. Without hesitation she was nicknamed the “Girlfriend”. All of a sudden I had a very sexy Italian girlfriend… of whom my wife approved!
May I say that, after twelve years with my Girlfriend, I’m very happy my wife doesn’t require anywhere near that much maintenance! Imagine when changing gears from second to third makes more noise than a Cadbury’s Crunchie bar. Something needs to be fixed. The big word is synchromesh. A mechanism in manual transmissions that smoothly synchronizes the speeds of gears before they engage. In the modern vernacular – it’s delightful when things are “in sync”. My dream is my Girlfriend synchronises as smoothly as my wife and I do.
My mechanic suggests we change the oil in the gearbox first. Let’s see. But it leads me to wonder what might be the ‘oil’ in a relationship that ensures delightful “sync”? The oil in a car means that constant contact is always smooth. Perhaps that’s my answer? Oil is ‘time’. The more time in contact we are in our relationships the smoother things are. Time together. Communicating. Listening. Leaning in. Feeling each other’s heartbeat. Synchronisation becomes natural.
Try this too. Synchronising with God. Time together. Communicating. Listening. Leaning in. Feeling each other’s heartbeat.
Synchronisation becomes natural.
