And the rain comes down…
Ever have the words of an old song come to you, and it reminds you of God?
I find myself in a warm place, on a comfortable chair, with the sound of rain outside. And these words drift into my thoughts: “And the rain comes down. There’s no pain, and there’s no doubt. It was easy to say, I believed in you every day.”
Excuse me Stevie Nicks while I take a bunch of your lyrics out of context, but Lord, “listen to me now, you know I’d rather be alone than without you now.” And perhaps God’s reply, “Has anyone ever written anything for you? And in your darkest sorrow, did you ever hear me sing?”
I recently reflected on how God sang creation into existence. Such a beautiful song. “Yes Lord, I hear you sing.” The reply? “I have given that to you. If it's all I ever do. This is your song.” Thankyou Lord.
Perhaps each of us with Jesus in our hearts has the song? And perhaps it’s not a song to keep to ourselves? “Has anyone ever given anything to you? In your darkest hour? Did you ever give it back?”
The song of the Spirit is life giving and world changing. “So if not for me, then do it for yourself. If not for me, then do it for the world.” As it has been since the beginning, a song sung into darkness can be profound. Let’s ‘sing’ with words and actions to bring light into the darkness.
