No parachute required…

Why might you give up time on an absolutely delightful spring Sunday to go to church?

Reasonable question.  Particularly in our Australian culture where we are blessed with a plethora of options and choices to do with our time each day.  Time is valuable.  We spend it.  We save it.  Often, we are constantly looking for more of it.  It makes sense, given the choice, we would choose to do the most valuable thing on any given day.

Many years ago, when learning to fly, I met a man preparing to go skydiving.  “Why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good plane?” I asked.  His response?  “There is no such thing as a perfectly good plane.”  So much for my sense of security!

How valuable is security?  Safety?  Peace?  Often, in our lives our ‘security’, and the things we find ‘security’ in, are thinly veiled illusions.  Perhaps the most valuable way to spend time on an exquisite spring Sunday is finding a place to land.  A place of safety and peace.  A place of security.  No parachute required.  Worth spending some time?
